2015 Oregon Battle of the Books Quizzes & Discussion Group – Grades 3-5

July 9, 2014

I’ve been working on quizzes for the 2015 Battles!

I realized, after doing all the reading and creating quizzes for last year, that it was quite a lot more time and work than I first expected. The 2015 book quizzes will be $5 each, or $50 for all 16 (A savings of $30.00).

Available now:

If I get done with the grades 3-5 books, I’ll work on middle school level books. I will keep you posted!

  1. Very disappointed with this site. Would like my money refunded if you aren’t going to fulfil your obligation to post the other quizzes.

    • I would like to apologize for not responding to your order of OBOB quiz access on http://www.obob.me sooner. The truth is, I started this project in summer and once school started in September, I kind of forgot that I had publicized it at all. I haven’t checked my obob email or account membership requests for months. I only recently discovered, by receiving an email from a dissatisfied customer, that payments had been made but not fulfilled.

Your account has been activated and your login info is:
      username: Stapishp
      password: JuwehxZB

Again, I’m very sorry about this.

      Sincerely,
      Lisa Rodriguez

    • I have replied to you. I am working as hard and as fast as I can, as a full time elementary school teacher who works 50 miles away from home. If you would like a full refund now I will do that for you. I started this for my students and for the love of reading and teaching. I do not want any bad feelings. Please let me know if you want your money back and I will remove your account.

      Sincerely,
      Lisa Rodriguez

  2. Everуοne loves what you guyѕ are usually up too.
Such clever work and reporting! Keep up the amazing works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to my personal blogroll.

  3. Having read this I believed it was rather informative.
I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this article together.
I once again find myself spending way too much time both reading and posting comments.
But so what, it was still worth it!

  4. Why are you monetizing OBOB? OBOB was not designed to be a for-profit endeavor. It is completely run by volunteers who do it for the love it…not because they are going to make money from it. I am so disappointed in this website.

    • I’m a teacher and a coach of five students who are competing in OBOB. I meet with my students after school three times a week without pay, I have written grants that resulted in them getting books that they can keep, I read all the books, and spent much time and effort creating very thorough quizzes. I started making the quizzes for them, and then other people showed an interest in the quizzes.

Yours is the first negative comment I have received. I have received many positive comments from people who appreciate having the quizzes to help their students and/or children study because they work full time in addition to being parents.

Thank you very much for your hard work and dedication as a volunteer for OBOB, as well as the many other people that dedicate their time to this worthy organization.

      I appreciate your feedback.

      Sincerely,
      Lisa Rodriguez

    • Writing questions is hard. If it were easy we would just write our own questions instead of searching the Internet looking for questions other people have written.

  5. Did you know there is an OBOB FB page? There are people from all over the state…parents, teachers, librarians…writing questions and sharing them with each other for free. I am going to assume you just didn’t know that was happening and that’s why you went this route. This would save you a lot of work and tons of time.

Good luck to your team. If they are working even half as hard as you are working I am sure they are going to do a great job.

  6. This is supposed to be for kids and helping with their education. Appears like you are trying to personally profit off of that.

    • Sorry, but I must weigh in on this. I do not know Lisa personally but I bought the quizzes. Hundreds of hours of work for a measly two bucks? That’s profit? This is not exactly a mass-market sales effort. One woman put a great deal of effort into collating a massive amount of data and is asking for a pittance in return. I would hardly call that “profit.”

  7. These quizzes are great! Exhaustively researched, 100-plus questions each, perfect prep for OBOB teams all over! The amount of effort that went into collating all this data and then presenting it in an easy-to-use format is unbelievable and well worth the nominal fee.

To those who are complaining about the fee, this was a gargantuan task and the tiny amount charged is nowhere near fair compensation for such efforts.

Incidentally, I was unable to locate an OBOB FB page where “…people from all over the state…parents, teachers, librarians…[are] writing questions and sharing them…” anywhere. I did locate one where people are requesting OBOB questions. But no questions had been posted.

In short, this resource here is a great one and easily worth the tiny cost.

    • Thank you so much Matt!! Would it be OK if I copied and pasted this on my Facebook page, or could you post it there?
      Thanks!
      Lisa

    • I think it’s a glitch in the system if you pay for books separately. You emailed me, and I just fixed it, so you should have access to all the books you purchased. If you purchase other ones, please let me know and I’ll add them.

      Thanks :-)
      Lisa
